• •If something is sold as 'organic' in California, it must have a clear label saying it's organic, just like the rules from the National Organic Program (NOP).
• •You can't say something is 'organic when available' or use words that make people unsure if the food is really organic.

A grocery store sells apples with a sign that says 'organic when available' but doesn't clearly label which apples are organic.

This is not allowed because the sign makes it unclear if the apples are actually organic. The store must clearly label organic apples as 'organic' to follow the rules.
