§ 106965 X-Ray Certification Requirements

This law says you can only use X‑ray machines on people if you have the right certificate or permit, stay within what that certificate allows, and work under a licensed doctor.

Key Takeaways

  • •You need a valid X‑ray certification or permit to use diagnostic or therapeutic X‑rays.
  • •You must stay within the limits of that certification or permit.
  • •A licensed health‑care professional must supervise the X‑ray work.
  • •Chiropractors are not allowed to supervise or perform mammography.

Example

A technician wants to take an X‑ray of a patient’s broken arm.

The technician must have a current X‑ray certification or permit, must only do the X‑ray they are allowed to do, and must be supervised by a licensed doctor. If they don’t have the certification, it’s illegal.
