§ 106670 Environmental Health Specialist Registration

This law says you must have the right schooling and work experience to take the test to become an environmental health specialist, you must pass the test, and if you fail, you have to wait a set amount of time before trying again.

Key Takeaways

  • •You need the education and experience listed in Section 106635 before you can apply for the exam.
  • •The exam must be set by the department and you must pass it to get registered.
  • •If you fail twice, you must wait one year before the next try; after a third failure you must wait two years, and later attempts can only be once every two years, with a new application and fee each time.

Example

Jane finishes her college program and works a few years in a health lab. She applies to take the state exam to become a certified environmental health specialist.

Jane can only sit for the exam because she meets the education and experience rules. If she fails the first two tries, she must wait a year before a third try; if she fails the third, she must wait two years before a fourth, and any later tries can only be once every two years. She also has to send a new application and pay the fee each time.
