§ 105441 Environmental Contaminant Biomonitoring Program

This law creates a state program to test people's bodies for certain chemicals, using things like blood or urine, and it does so voluntarily and privately.

Key Takeaways

  • •The program is run by the department, unless the chapter says otherwise.
  • •Testing is done only with volunteers and their results stay confidential.
  • •Samples are analyzed by state labs or their contractors, and the data are used for statewide surveys.

Example

A California resident volunteers to give a urine sample so the state can check for pesticide residues in the population.

The program will collect the sample, send it to a state lab, and report the overall findings without revealing the individual's identity.
