§ 105253 Lead Work Certification Rules

This law says people who work with lead (like removing it from old houses) must follow special rules and have a certificate. It's illegal to lie about having this certificate or to give fake info to get one.

Key Takeaways

  • •You need a special certificate to work with lead in buildings.
  • •Lying about having this certificate or using fake info to get one is illegal.
  • •Inspectors can check your work and records to make sure you're following the rules.
  • •Breaking this law can mean jail time or a fine.

Example

A contractor tells a homeowner they are certified to remove lead paint, but they don't actually have the certificate.

This is against the law. The contractor could go to jail for up to 6 months or pay a fine up to $1,000.
