§ 102625 Adoption Decree Reporting

This law says the court clerk has to fill out a special form and send it to the State Registrar within five days after an adoption becomes final, but not before it’s final.

Key Takeaways

  • •The clerk must use the specific adoption report form.
  • •The report must be sent to the State Registrar.
  • •It has to be sent within five days after the adoption becomes a final decree, and not earlier.

Example

A couple adopts a baby and the judge signs the final adoption order on March 1.

The court clerk must complete the required form and mail it to the State Registrar by March 6, but they can’t send it before March 1 because the adoption isn’t final yet.
