§ 102535 Delayed Birth Registration

This law lets you register a birth that was never recorded, but only certain people can file the paperwork.

Key Takeaways

  • •You can only register a birth that was never recorded in the state.
  • •If the person is 18 or older, they must file the application themselves.
  • •If the person is under 18, only a parent, legal guardian, or the doctor/attendant at birth can file.

Example

A person was born in the state but never got a birth certificate. When they turn 20, they go to the State Registrar and file the application themselves.

Because they are over 18, the law says they can file the delayed birth registration on their own.
