§ 102345 Birth Certificate Transmission

This law says the local office that handles birth and death papers must send all the original papers they got each week to the state office.

Key Takeaways

  • •Local registrars must send every original birth or death certificate they accept.
  • •They have to do this once a week for the papers they got the week before.
  • •The rule started working on January 1, 1993 (and was officially added in 1996).

Example

A town clerk receives a newborn's birth certificate on Monday and a death certificate on Thursday.

By Friday, the clerk must mail both original certificates to the State Registrar so the state has a complete record.
