§ 102220 Birth Death Record Review

This law says the State Registrar must check birth, death, and fetal death certificates and ask for more info if anything is missing or unclear.

Key Takeaways

  • •The State Registrar reviews all certificates for births, deaths, and fetal deaths.
  • •If a certificate is incomplete or unsatisfactory, the State Registrar can ask for more information.
  • •The goal is to make sure every record is complete and correct.

Example

A town clerk sends a birth certificate that doesn't list the baby's middle name.

The State Registrar looks at the certificate, sees the missing middle name, and tells the town clerk to send the missing information so the record is complete.
