§ 102130 Marriage License Requirements

This law says a marriage license has to be written clearly so it can be copied, and it must include every piece of information the form asks for, or explain why something is missing.

Key Takeaways

  • •The license must be legible (easy to read).
  • •It must be able to be copied by photo or micro‑copy.
  • •All required information has to be on the form, or the omission must be explained.

Example

A couple fills out a marriage license, but the clerk writes the names in a scribble and forgets to put the bride's birthdate on the form.

Because the writing is hard to read and a required detail is missing, the license would not be considered complete or correct under this law.
