§ 100100 Department Name Change

This law changes the name of the State Department of Health Services to the State Department of Health Care Services starting July 1, 2007, and says that any old mentions now mean the new department, unless the duties were moved to the State Department of Public Health.

Key Takeaways

  • •The name change takes effect on July 1, 2007.
  • •All references to the old name now mean the State Department of Health Care Services.
  • •Any duties that weren’t moved to the State Department of Public Health stay with the renamed department.

Example

A worker reads an older rule that says the State Department of Health Services must approve a health program. After July 1, 2007, they need to go to the State Department of Health Care Services instead.

Because the law renamed the department, the old name in the rule now points to the new department, so the worker should contact the Health Care Services office to get approval.
