§ 9053 Altering Legislative Documents Fraud

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't change a law or bill after it's been approved by the government.
  • •If you do change it on purpose to trick people, it's a big crime.
  • •This includes trying to get the Governor or Secretary of State to approve the fake version.

Example

Someone changes a printed law about school rules to say kids don’t have to go to school, even though the real law says they do.

If they do this to trick the Governor into signing it or the state into printing it, they’re breaking the law and can go to jail.
