§ 75612 County Late Reporting Penalties

Key Takeaways

  • •If a county is late sending reports (more than 30 days), they have to pay extra money to cover the costs caused by the delay.
  • •The extra money goes into a special fund for judges' retirement.
  • •If the county doesn’t pay on time, they also have to pay interest on top of what they owe.
  • •The interest rate is similar to what the state earns from investing money.

Example

A county forgets to send a report about court cases on time. They send it 40 days late.

Because the report was late, the county has to pay extra money to cover the trouble it caused. If they don’t pay right away, they’ll also owe interest, like when you don’t pay a credit card bill on time.
