§ 64634 Bond Program Audit Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Every two years, the authority must hire someone outside the government to check their money and work.
  • •The check-up must follow rules set by the Controller.
  • •The results of the check-up must be shared with the Controller, the Director of Finance, and the Joint Legislative Budget Committee.
  • •If the Governor or the Legislature asks, another group called the Bureau of State Audits can also do a check-up.

Example

Imagine you have a lemonade stand, and every two years, your parents hire a neighbor to check if you're spending your money wisely and doing a good job.

Just like the neighbor checks your lemonade stand, the authority gets checked every two years to make sure they're using their money right and doing their job well. The results are shared with important people in the government.
