§ 59220 Bond Replacement District Formation

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can decide to buy back old bonds and create a new district if they think it's good for the public.
  • •They have to explain why they think this change is needed.
  • •This rule was added a long time ago, in 1951.

Example

Imagine your town has old bonds for a park that isn't used much anymore.

The town leaders can say, 'This park isn't helpful now, so we'll buy back those old bonds and make a new district for a community center instead.' They have to explain why this change is better for everyone.
