§ 59120 Assessment Refund And Adjustment

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can change how much people pay for local projects (like fixing roads or building parks) if it’s fair and needed.
  • •If the cost of a project is too high or unfair, the government can adjust the bills sent to property owners.
  • •This only applies to special projects where nearby properties benefit (like sidewalks or streetlights).
  • •The government must follow the rules in this law to make changes.

Example

A neighborhood got new sidewalks, but the bills sent to homeowners were too high because the project cost more than expected.

The city can lower the bills if they decide it’s fair and needed, so people don’t pay too much.
