§ 56898 Ballot Proposition Analysis Approval

Key Takeaways

  • •A boss has to write a fair explanation of a new rule people will vote on.
  • •The boss gives this explanation to a group of people who can change it if they want.
  • •The explanation must be short (no more than 500 words) and say where the rule will work.
  • •Everything must be done fast so voters get the explanation before they vote.

Example

Your town is voting on a new rule to build a park. The mayor writes a short, fair explanation of the rule.

The mayor gives this explanation to a group of leaders. They can change it if they think it’s not fair or clear. Then, they send the final explanation to the people running the vote so everyone knows what they’re voting for.
