Key Takeaways

  • •If a plan wants to take land away from a city, the city gets told about it right away.
  • •The city has 60 days to say 'no' and stop the plan if they don’t like it.
  • •If the city says 'no' in time, the plan gets canceled.
  • •If the city says 'yes' to the plan, they can’t stop it later.

Example

A nearby town wants to take a neighborhood away from your city to make their town bigger.

Your city gets a letter about the plan and has 60 days to vote and say 'no' if they don’t want to lose that neighborhood. If they say 'no' in time, the plan stops. If they say 'yes' or do nothing, the plan keeps going.
