§ 55027 Sewer Connection Cost Sharing

Key Takeaways

  • •If the government allows someone to build sewers, they can ask to connect their own sewers to them later.
  • •The government must pay their fair share of the cost to build and maintain those sewers if they use them.
  • •This rule helps make sure everyone pays their part when using shared sewer systems.

Example

A small town builds new sewers for its homes. Later, the nearby city wants to connect its sewers to the town's system.

The city can do this, but it must pay part of the cost to build and keep up the town's sewers since they’re using them too.
