§ 50594 Assessment District Description Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •The law lets a city describe an area where they want to charge people for maintenance work.
  • •The city can describe the area by drawing a boundary or using a map.
  • •The city must say what kind of maintenance they plan to do, like fixing roads or parks.
  • •The area doesn’t have to be all in one piece—it can be separate parts.

Example

A city wants to fix sidewalks in different neighborhoods.

The city can pass a rule saying which neighborhoods will pay for the fixes, even if those neighborhoods aren’t next to each other. They can use a map to show where the work will happen.

Portions of the improvement or of the territory comprising the assessment district need not be contiguous. (Added by Stats. 1965, Ch. 1503.)
