Key Takeaways

  • •Before creating a special district for maintaining open areas, a report must be made.
  • •The report must describe the open areas, the maintenance work needed, and the estimated yearly costs.
  • •A map must show the district boundaries and which properties will benefit from the maintenance.
  • •The report must be checked by the planning commission before it is officially filed.

Example

A neighborhood wants to create a special district to maintain a local park.

Before the district can be formed, a report must be made that describes the park, the maintenance needed (like mowing the grass and fixing playground equipment), and how much it will cost each year. A map must show the park's boundaries and which nearby houses will benefit from the park's upkeep. This report must be reviewed by the planning commission before it is officially filed.
