§ 31613 Retirement Fund Earnings Calculation

Key Takeaways

  • •Net earnings are what the retirement fund makes after losses and certain deductions.
  • •Some money is taken out for specific reasons listed in other sections.
  • •The board can choose to take some deductions from a special reserve account instead.

Example

Imagine you have a lemonade stand that makes $100 in a day.

But you spent $20 on lemons and cups, and you set aside $10 for a rainy day. Your 'net earnings' would be $70, because that’s what’s left after your costs and savings.
