§ 29834 Warrant Payment Priority Rules

• •If the government owes people money (like a check), the oldest checks get paid first.
• •When new money comes into the fund, the treasurer must save enough to pay back these old checks.
• •This rule makes sure people get paid in the order they were promised.

Imagine the school owes money to three teachers for extra work. Teacher A was promised first, then Teacher B, then Teacher C.

When the school gets new money, they must pay Teacher A first, then Teacher B, then Teacher C. They can’t skip Teacher A to pay Teacher C just because they like them more.
