§ 27399 County Recorder Authority Limits

Key Takeaways

  • •This law does not give state agencies new powers over county recorders unless the law specifically says so.
  • •The law adds to other rules already in place, it doesn’t replace them.
  • •Some older laws and special rules for Orange and San Bernardino counties stay the same.

Example

A state agency wants to change how a county recorder keeps property records.

The state can’t just take over or change how the county recorder does their job unless this law or another law clearly says they can.
