§ 25336 County Service Fee Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •The county can charge extra fees for special services, but they have to follow rules.
  • •The county must make sure they can provide the extra services without making regular services worse.
  • •People who don’t want the extra services shouldn’t be treated unfairly.
  • •The extra services must be good for the public, and the fee must match the cost or value of the service.

Example

A county wants to offer a special trash pickup service for big items like old furniture.

The county must check if they have enough trucks and workers to do this without messing up regular trash pickup. They also can’t make people who don’t use the special service pay more or get worse service. The fee for picking up the big items must be fair and based on how much it actually costs.
