§ 23109 El Dorado County Boundaries

Key Takeaways

  • •El Dorado County has specific borders defined by rivers, lakes, and lines on a map.
  • •The borders start and end at the junction of the north and south forks of the American River.
  • •The borders follow rivers like the American River and Rubicon River, and also follow lines like section and range lines on a map.
  • •The borders also follow the western shore of Lake Tahoe and the state line.

Example

Imagine you are hiking along the American River. You start at a point where the north and south forks of the river meet. As you hike up the north fork, you are still in El Dorado County. If you cross over to the other side of the river, you might be in a different county.

This law tells us exactly where El Dorado County starts and ends. It helps people know if they are in El Dorado County or not, just like knowing the borders of your neighborhood.
