§ 23102 Alpine County Boundaries

Key Takeaways

  • •Alpine County has specific borders described in the law.
  • •The borders follow natural landmarks like mountains, rivers, and roads.
  • •The description starts and ends at the state line on the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
  • •The borders include points near houses, roads, and trails that were known at the time.

Example

Imagine you are hiking along the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

If you start at the state line and follow the mountain tops, rivers, and roads mentioned in the law, you will trace the entire border of Alpine County. For example, when you reach Thompson’s Peak near Hope Valley, you know you are still within Alpine County’s borders.
