§ 22207 Public Employee Retirement Inclusion

Key Takeaways

  • •If some workers can't join their work retirement plan, their boss can ask to include them in a different retirement plan.
  • •The boss can only ask if most of the workers in that group agree.
  • •The workers must not already be in any retirement plan when the new plan starts.

Example

A group of school janitors can't join the school's retirement plan.

If most of the janitors vote yes, the school can ask to put them in a different retirement plan. But only if they aren't in any retirement plan when the new one starts.
