§ 20422 Emergency Medical Personnel Inclusion

Key Takeaways

  • •This law includes EMTs and paramedics as 'local safety members' who get special benefits.
  • •The law only applies if their employer (like a city or county) agrees to it in their contract.
  • •If the employer doesn’t agree, the EMTs and paramedics don’t get these extra benefits.

Example

A paramedic works for a city fire department.

If the city’s contract with the state includes this law, the paramedic gets special benefits. If not, they don’t.
