§ 19700 Age Discrimination In Hiring

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't be denied a state job just because of your age.
  • •This rule applies to all state jobs unless there's a special exception.
  • •The boss or hiring manager can't make secret or written rules against hiring older or younger people.

Example

A 60-year-old applies for a job as a park ranger.

The state can't say 'no' just because the person is 60. If they're healthy and can do the job, they must be considered like anyone else.
