§ 11862 State Financial Transparency Website

Key Takeaways

  • •The government must show how it spends money from different funds on a website for everyone to see.
  • •People can check online where the money from taxes, federal funds, and other sources goes.
  • •Some secret or private info won’t be shown because it’s protected by other laws.

Example

You want to know how your tax money is being spent on schools or roads.

You can go to a government website and see a breakdown of where the money goes, like how much is spent on teachers or fixing potholes. But if there’s private info, like someone’s personal details, it won’t be shown.
