§ 17240 Warrant Reimbursement Definitions

Key Takeaways

  • •Reimbursement warrants are like IOUs from the government to pay back money it borrowed from a special fund.
  • •Refunding warrants are used to pay off those IOUs or other specific debts on time.
  • •This is about how the government moves money around to cover its bills.

Example

Imagine you borrow $10 from your piggy bank to buy lunch, promising to pay it back later.

The government does something similar. It uses 'reimbursement warrants' to pay back the piggy bank (General Cash Revolving Fund) after borrowing money. If it needs to pay back that $10 on a specific date, it uses 'refunding warrants' to make sure the piggy bank gets its money on time.
