§ 13906 Board Quorum Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Most of the board members must be present to make decisions or do their jobs.
  • •If some board members are missing, the ones who are there can still do their work.
  • •The board can still work even if there are empty spots.

Example

A school board has 5 members, but 2 are sick and can't come to the meeting.

The other 3 members can still meet and make decisions because most of them are there. The missing members don't stop the board from doing its job.

§ 13906 Board Quorum Requirements

A majority of the board constitutes a quorum for the transaction of any business, for the performance of any duty, or for the exercise of any power of the board. A vacancy in the board does not impair the right of the remaining members to exercise all the powers of the board. (Added by Stats. 1945, Ch. 112.)
