§ 12931 Community Discrimination Resolution Assistance

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can help people solve fights or problems when someone is treated unfairly because of things like their race, religion, disability, or who they love.
  • •They only help if the fight is making it hard for people to live together nicely in the community.
  • •You can ask for help if you're the one being treated unfairly, or if you're a local leader who sees the problem.
  • •They won't force anyone to do anything—they just talk to people, listen, and try to help them agree on a solution.

Example

A group of kids isn't allowed to join a school club because of their religion.

The government can step in to talk to the school and the kids' families to help fix the problem so everyone is treated fairly.
