§ 12787 State Discretionary Funds Application

Key Takeaways

  • •Groups that can get money from the state (like schools or nonprofits) can ask for extra money from the state if they need it.
  • •But they can't use this extra money to pay for the same thing twice.
  • •This rule started in 2020.

Example

A school gets money from the state to buy computers for students. They see another pot of state money and want to use it to buy more computers.

The school can ask for the extra money, but they can't use it to buy more computers if they already got money for that. They could use it for something else, like buying books.
