§ 12761 Funding Replacement Prohibition

Key Takeaways

  • •Groups getting money from this law can't use it to replace money they used to get from the state or local government.
  • •The money must be used for new or extra help, not to fill in for old funding that was cut.
  • •This rule is to make sure the money actually adds more help, not just keeps things the same.

Example

A local food bank used to get $10,000 every year from the city to feed families. This year, the city stopped giving them that money.

The food bank can't use the new money from this law to replace the $10,000 they lost from the city. They have to use it for something new, like giving out more food or helping more people.
