§ 12333 Treasurer Fiduciary Powers

Key Takeaways

  • •The Treasurer can handle money and important papers for the state, like a bank does for people.
  • •They can do things like keep track of loans, sell bonds, or manage payments for the state.
  • •The Treasurer has the same powers as a bank or a person when doing these jobs.
  • •This law gives the Treasurer extra permission to do these things, even if other laws already allow it.

Example

The state needs to borrow money to build new schools.

The Treasurer can help by selling bonds (like IOUs) to people who want to lend money. They can also keep track of who lent money and make sure the state pays them back on time, just like a bank would.
