§ 12178 Legislator Official Duty Fees

Key Takeaways

  • •If you work in the state government (like a lawmaker or officer), you don’t have to pay for searches about your job.
  • •You also don’t have to pay for official copies of laws or rules that help you do your job.
  • •This rule is only for work stuff, not personal things.

Example

A state lawmaker needs a copy of a new law to understand how it affects their work.

They can get that copy for free because it’s part of their job. If it was for something personal, like a family matter, they’d have to pay.
