§ 11271 Department Finance Cost Allocation

Key Takeaways

  • •The Department of Finance decides which funds (except the General Fund and Central Service Cost Recovery Fund) must pay a share of admin costs.
  • •They also decide how much each fund should pay based on what they use.
  • •These costs are taken from the funds or special accounts that the Department of Finance picks.
  • •Special accounts in the General Fund are treated separately and not like the main General Fund.

Example

Imagine the state has a special fund for building parks. The Department of Finance might say this park fund has to pay some money to help cover the costs of running the government offices that help manage park projects.

The park fund has to pay its fair share of admin costs because it uses some government services. The Department of Finance decides how much that share is.
