§ 11275 Fund Balance Shortfall Transfers

Key Takeaways

  • •If a fund doesn't have enough money to pay for its admin costs, the Controller has to ask the Department of Finance for help.
  • •The Department of Finance will then decide how and when to move money to cover these costs.

Example

Imagine a school's lunch fund is running low and can't pay for the lunch ladies' salaries.

The school's money manager would ask the district's finance office for help. The finance office would then figure out how and when to move money from another fund to pay the lunch ladies.
