§ 12164 State Property Conveyance Recording

Key Takeaways

  • •The Secretary of State keeps records of all property given to the state.
  • •They don’t record property for state highways (handled by the Department of Transportation).
  • •They also don’t record property sold because of unpaid taxes.

Example

If someone donates land to the state for a new park, the Secretary of State writes it down in their records.

But if the state buys land for a new highway, the Department of Transportation keeps the records instead.
