§ 11372 Medical License Discipline Hearings

Key Takeaways

  • •If a doctor in California is in trouble for breaking rules, their case is usually handled by a special judge called an administrative law judge.
  • •This judge works alone unless the agency in charge decides otherwise.
  • •There’s a different rule for quick, temporary orders—those follow a separate process.

Example

A doctor is accused of writing fake prescriptions.

Instead of a regular court, a special judge will decide if the doctor should be punished, like losing their license. This keeps things fair and follows the rules.
