§ 1132 Officeholder Salary During Contests

Key Takeaways

  • •If you won an election and have the official paper saying so, this law doesn’t affect you.
  • •You can start doing the job and get paid even if someone is arguing about the election results.
  • •No extra paperwork is needed to prove you can start working or getting paid.

Example

Imagine you win the race for mayor and get the official certificate saying you won. But someone else says the election wasn’t fair and starts a fight about it.

You can still start working as mayor and get your paycheck like normal. You don’t have to wait for the fight to end or fill out extra papers.
