§ 8158 Financial Records Access Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can check all the money records of banks and similar companies.
  • •They can ask people questions and make them tell the truth about the company’s money stuff.
  • •If the bank is in big trouble, these rules still apply.

Example

A bank is having money problems, and the government wants to see their records.

The government can look at all the bank’s books and ask employees questions to figure out what’s going on. If the bank doesn’t hand over the records, the government can get a court order to make them do it.
