§ 22017 Pace Solicitor Definitions

Key Takeaways

  • •A 'PACE solicitor' is someone who asks homeowners to sign up for a special loan to pay for home improvements.
  • •A 'PACE solicitor agent' is a person who works for the solicitor and does the same thing.
  • •Some people are NOT considered PACE solicitors, like workers who don’t ask homeowners to sign up, or people who just do office work.
  • •If someone only gives out info about the loan but doesn’t ask people to sign up, they’re not a PACE solicitor.

Example

A salesperson knocks on your door and says, 'Sign this loan to get new solar panels for your house!'

That salesperson is a PACE solicitor because they’re asking you to sign up for the loan. But if they just hand you a flyer about the loan and leave, they might not be one.
