§ 856 Deputized Law Enforcement Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •Some workers in this department can act like police officers anywhere in the state if they think a crime happened.
  • •Before they can do this, they must finish a basic training course for police officers.
  • •They also have to keep taking training classes to stay updated.

Example

A worker from this department sees someone stealing a car in a different city.

Because they finished their training, they can act like a police officer and stop the thief, even if it's not in their usual work area.
