§ 6703 Kelp Harvesting Lease Limits

• •You can't lease kelp harvesting rights for more than 20 years at a time.
• •No one can lease more than 25 square miles of kelp area.
• •If the total kelp area is small, you can't lease more than half of it.

A company wants to lease a big part of the ocean to harvest kelp for 30 years.

The company can't do this because the lease can't be longer than 20 years, and they can't lease more than 25 square miles or half of the total kelp area, whichever is bigger.
