§ 6421 Artificial Reef Definitions

Key Takeaways

  • •An 'artificial reef' is something people put in the ocean on purpose to help fish and plants grow, just like a natural reef.
  • •The goal is to make more fish and sea life by giving them a good place to live.
  • •This is part of a special program in California called the California Artificial Reef Program.

Example

Imagine someone sinks old, clean ships or puts big concrete blocks in the ocean.

This is done to create a new home for fish and plants, helping them grow and multiply. It’s like building a new playground for sea life.
