§ 6027 Fish Screen Removal Permits

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can let people take out screens or close bypasses in water systems.
  • •They only allow this if it won’t hurt fish.
  • •This can happen at any time of the year if it’s safe for fish.

Example

A farmer has a screen in their irrigation system to protect fish. The screen gets clogged, and the farmer wants to remove it for a short time to clean it.

The government can say yes to removing the screen if they check and see that it won’t harm the fish while it’s gone.
