§ 2152 Wild Animal Permit Requirements

This law says every wildlife import permit must list the exact species, explain how the animal can be brought in, and tell how it must be kept during transport or after arrival.

Key Takeaways

  • •The permit must name the species and give its scientific name.
  • •It must describe the way the animal can be legally brought into the country.
  • •It must state how the animal must be cared for during transport or after it arrives.

Example

A zoo wants to bring in a rare turtle from another country.

The zoo's permit has to say the turtle's scientific name, the rules for how the turtle can enter the country, and the conditions for keeping the turtle safe while it’s being shipped and after it arrives.
